Sure you can buy almond milk in the store, but making it yourself is easy, tastes better and has no preservatives! 

1 c. Soaked Almonds (soak almonds for 8 hours, changing water once half way through)
4 c. Water (or substitute 2 c. with coconut water)

Blend almonds with 1/2 the liquid on high for 1 minute.  Strain the milk through a cheese cloth (squeezing out as much liquid as possible) and set aside.  Add the pulp back into the bender and blend with the other 1/2 liquid. Strain again and add the milk to the other milk you already strained.  

This ratio makes the milk on the richer side so you can increase liquid if you want.

 

Makes about 4 cups

Plain Almond Milk (per cup)    40 calories, 0.3 grams of carbs, 0.4 grams of fiber, 0 grams of sugar

Coconut Almond Milk (per cup)    57 calories, 4 grams of carbs, 3 grams of sugar
